Test optional-send scores or no?

What do you guys think about sending scores if its test optional. What do you think would be enough in terms of sending scores? What scores would hurt my chances? Do they look at combined or just reading/math?
Idk if I should submit them or not! I know they say if you don't it won't hurt your chances...but I feel like they will think somethings bad if I don't.
Arghhh...any advice on this?
Please and thank you!!!

bump I’d like to know as well!

My GPA is 3.7 and I feel that is a somewhat better reflection of my abilities rather than my current SAT score

send them unless your test scores are cleary below your g.p.a.

This is an easy question. You shoud send them unless your score is well below their average. I know DePaul is a test-optional school with an average incoming ACT score of 25.4, while the national average is 21. I would not send my score unless I am around or above that average of 25.4. The same goes for other test-optional schools like Wake Forest.

Good question. My name is Brian and I work in the Admission Office at Marist. I just wanted to clarify some of the information/advice above.

The reason we went test-optional is because we feel a student’s accomplish over 3+ years of high school (GPA, curriculum, resume, etc) is a much better indicator of their potential in college then a standardized test. Therefore, we wanted to give the student the option to submit or not. If you feel your test scores are a good indicator of your academic performance/abilities, then submit. If you don’t, then feel free to go test-optional.

I have to politely disagree with HappyMan1’s advice. It is a very common misconception that if you do not submit, we are going to assume you did poorly. That is not the case. I have seen students fall in our average range, or even above i, that have not submitted their scores, and that is OK. Bottom line, we want you to be proud of what you are sending us.

What would you recommend if my test scores are inconsistent? My math is pretty good and my CR and W are low.

My guidance counselor said if your scores do not match up to their scores, don’t send them in because it won’t help you. Just make sure your GPA matches up.
