Test Prep Course - During School?

At my school, the top 3% of PSAT scorers in the eighth and ninth grades are invited to a Test Prep course for the following year. The general consensus is that the school wants to raise its NMF yield, and the most effective way of doing so is to prep the students most likely to make the cut. Regardless, I've heard that it's a fun course, and it focuses largely on logic puzzles and Latin roots for vocabulary, as well as testing strategy. I'll have seven credits of "Academic" courses on top of it (see below), and the class will be graded P/F.

My question: Is an SAT prep course during the school day looked down upon in admissions? If I do take it, should I provide a brief explanation of the course with my applications (I'll already be providing course descriptions for the various CC courses I'll have completed)?

The rest of my schedule will be as follows; it's the most rigorous available.

"Enriched" is roughly equivalent to "Honors" or "Pre-AP" at other schools; it's the highest level available for frosh/soph core.

Pre-Cal Enriched
AP Stats
Physical Science Enriched (three quarters of chem with a quarter of physics)
Lit & Comp 10 Enriched
Mod World History Enriched
French III
Intro to Accounting (one semester, .5 credits)
Digital Manipulation (one semester, .5 credits)
One CC course/semester plus one in the summer, four total (three appear on my transcript for dual credit)

So, what do you think? Is it worth it? Will colleges look down upon my taking this class?

Thanks in advance :)

At my school, we had to take a prep course (magnet). It really didn't do that much to help kids here but if you do want to take it, I don't see anything necessarily BAD in it.

it won't be looked down upon -- and it may help you to get NMF, so it would be well worth the time and effort. I would suggest you take it.

Thanks, guys, I think I'll be taking it :)

For anyone else who wants to respond, I probably should've mentioned my score this year. As a freshmen, I scored 201. Nothing to brag about, but I was just starting Algebra II, and I didn't really spend a lot of time practicing, so I see room for improvement there.
