Test Prep Courses

Hello! I just took my first SAT in March 2012, and I am going to take my ACT in April. I have never had any outside SAT/ACT prep help, except the books. I have just taken practice tests, but the other day, I ran across Mike Barrett's SAT/ACT test prep. I was pretty impressed with his strategic approach to these tests. I am not sure if I should buy it or buy another test prep courses or should I just stick to my book method.

Any good online test prep courses?
Any reviews about Mike Barrett?

Thanks for your advice!

Books are fine as long as you are dedicated enough because the courses and tutors are only as good as the explanations and the teaching styles. But if you are using the books to just take practice test after practice test, that’s a very inefficient way of preparing. However, I do know that 98% of the people out there will probably do just that. What you need to do is get a workbook that has a ton of drills, not just multiple choice questions in the exact same format as the test. I know it may feel like it doesn’t help, but trust me, it will make a world of difference. After doing tons of drills you should move on to doing practice tests. There are some good books out there that actually have phenomenal explanations, even videos too.
