I used the Barron's prep for Math IIC and did decent on it. I stayed away from science though :)

The College Board Blue Book works well for the SAT I. I hear the actual prep courses aren't very beneficial unless you have a lower score (1700 or less I guess).

When I was in high school I bombed my SATs. I got a 950(ish)/1600. I've been at CC for a year and a half and I'm applying to transfer for next fall. Many of my prospective schools won't need to see my SAT scores, but I am retaking them just in case. I'm using Kaplan's online course. I'm a totally different person than I was in high school, so I plan on improving my scores dramatically.

the sooner the better...some colleges will continue to acknowledge test scores taken during college, but after a certain point (usually one year in college) some won't. The majority on my list, however, will acknowledge scores taken in college at any time.

not during your junior year - no. I took the ACT for the final time at the beginning of my sophomore year...I wouldn't recommend going too far beyond that, and I definitely wouldn't take it after your sophomore year. it just looks kinda silly to take a test that predicts your college performance after you've already made the transfer to your final undergrad institution and are half way through college.

I took the old SAT I in 7th grade and scored 1380. I left hs after two years and now a freshmen in college. When I started checking out transfer possibilities for next year was told I needed to take the new SAT I. I took it in Oct and scored 2360. I used the Princeton book for practice.
