Sorry if this topic has some overlap with others regarding best test prep material for a certain subject. I am planning to take the SAT II Math II, Bio, Chemistry, and US history this coming fall, and was wondering which test prep books you guys would recommend. I want the review to be as test-oriented as possible without sacrificing comprehensiveness, and also allow me to do my best. I have borrowed text books for these subjects from teachers to complement my studying for this summer as well. I realize my request is quite demanding, but ANY advice or opinions you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. I suppose what I am looking for is a good, in depth review that will allow me to do well on the test without having too much extraneous material. Basically, something that gets the job done concisely. Thanks for your help in my utopian quest :P

so a discussion on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=353469 has revealed that nearly all books for SAT II Chem suck at life. I don't know how to help you there, I used Barron's and it sucked. I got a 730, but I was also completely raped by the test because I memorized stuff that just plain wasn't on the test. If you have taken AP Chem, just use an AP Chem review book.

Barron's for Math II, on the other hand, is excellent.

I had no prep for Bio or USH at all except for Sparknotes Subject tests (I can't tell you about how much they helped considering I bought them two days before the tests, but they couldn't have hindered) but I was taking AP classes for both of them. 760 on both. Use your own discretion.

so there's not really a single publisher that works good on everything, huh? :(

Thanks for your help btw apathy. Any others out there who have some suggestions for review books for bio, USH, and chem (even though it sounds like many of them are bad)?

bio-Kaplan

chemistry-PR

math II-PR

MATH II- DEFINITELY NOT BARRONS..its too hard, frustrating, the explanations are hard to grasp, theres many typos and incorrect answers and more. Get PR for all of them, barrons is too hard, and kaplan sucks. Also, use sparknotes.com and read their online book for those (i think they have all three) because its a great help.

math IIC - PR
Chem - Barrons
