Test Recommendations for Computer Science at Edinburgh

I am an American student looking to study Computer Science and Artificial intelligence at Edinburgh, the tests I have so far I have taken so far include:

AP–
Computer Science Principals: 5
Physics: 4
World History: 5
US History: 4
English: 3

SAT: 1400

  • Writing and Reading: 680
  • Math: 720

I plan on taking the AP Chem, Physics and Calc B/C latter this year.

I have several questions with regards to applying

  1. Should I take SAT 2 Math 2 subject test so that I have one more related subject before submitting my application?
  2. Are these scores likely to get offers at universities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, UCL, Imperial, Kings, Nottingham and Manchester?
  3. If I plan on taking tests after I apply do I need to let the universities know?
  4. If I get a conditional offer the only AP test that I would likely take is Calc B/C because that is probably all I would need to meet the condition. Is there any advantage to sending more pending tests (I don’t want to make myself take time away from calc if I don’t have to)? Also, if I take more Ap tests than I said I would will there be any issues?

Thanks so much for any advice, it is greatly appreciated.

  1. I don't think taking this test will make a difference
  2. Yes, you should be getting conditional offers, maybe not from Imperial though. Choose your 5 options wisely.
  3. You list all APs taken and pending with predicted grades.
  4. You offers indeed will be conditional on Calc result. No other test will have a significant impact.

Thanks so much for the information:) In terms of your experience with UK admissions process are you currently an undergrad in the UK or are you just applying this year?

My daughter is a second year at Edi.
