Test retakes?

Hello! I am sophomore looking at transferring into BC from a small state school. I had a rough time in highschool due to various reasons beyond my control, and as a result i have very low SAT scores(1750) and a low highschool GPA(3.3). I have turned it all around in college though. I have a 4.0/4.0 GPA, i am a member of various clubs, and i swam for the college swim team my freshman year. I also plan on presenting at a local conference. Should i retake the SAT to make myself look better for BC?

I want to transfer to a different school because i want to go into finance. I have absolutely no networking at my school, and it would be to my advantage to transfer into another school.

If there is anything that i should add to clarify my situation, please ask me!

I know that there are tons of transfer threads on CC, but i would really appreciate it if i got some feedback pertaining to my situation. Thanks in advance! :)

It’s not clear if your 1750 SAT scores are from high school or taken recently. If you’re serious about transferring to to a competitive four year college, it would be in your interest to have decent SAT scores to show. I’ve known many students who have improved their scores by several hundred points through a combination of SAT prep classes and lots of self study using the abundance of available SAT prep material.

On a related note, don’t let yet your poor high school record discourage you, especially if you’re turning it around. Lots of colleges will look seriously at you when you can demonstrate how you’ve taken control of your life and made the sacrifices necessary to achieve a 4.0 gpa with lots of EC engagement.

I make the above comment from personal experience. I barely graduated from high school (bottom 5th of my class), and went downhill from there. Ten years later I graduated from MIT. I was fortunate to have a good community college available when I finally “woke up”. An intense community college effort, with some unique life learning experiences, provided the stepping stone needed to grab MIT adcom’s attention.

Don’t give up.

If you are a sophomore looking to transfer in as a Junior, high school test scores won’t much matter. For finance --CSOM? – math will matter. How are your Calc grades? If A’s, you should be fine.

I scored a 1750 in high school.

I scored a 1750 in highschool. If retaking these tests would be of advantage to me, could you guys point me to resources on CC or anywhere else that could help me out?

If you wouldn’t mind, would you tell me more about your experience? I would like to see how others have succeeded in a situation similar to mine.

So far, i have taken Calculus I and II with A’s. I am registered for a calculus class with vectors for next semester, and i will be recieving an A for this semester’s abstract math class.
