Test scores didn't cancel properly

I took the SAT II: Literature (for the second time) in June. I didn't feel super confident about it, so two days later I signed and faxed a cancellation form to collegeboard. However, I got an email yesterday saying my scores were in, and I checked and they were. I got a 750. That's better than I thought I did, and I wouldn't mind keeping this score. I'm confused though, because it was supposed to be canceled.

What would you do? If it was a really awful score I'd probably call collegeboard and explain what happened, but this score is fine with me. I mean, I think I could definitely do better in the fall, but I'm okay with a 750. It's the 94th percentile. And I definitely wouldn't want to send 3 scores for one test. What should I do to make sure it doesn't get canceled? Or if I think I can do better, should I try to get the 750 canceled?

Call them and say you don’t want it cancelled, it’s a good enough score for anywhere. Better yet, send something in writing.

I would call with a more open question since you don’t really want to cancel it and don’t want them to find your cancel request and then tell you they realized they should have. Tell them you are very pleased with the score and want to keep it but thought you had sent a cancel request which you no longer want. You want to make sure that the score remains active. Maybe they never got your request in which case you can say “great” glad you didn’t

Don’t try to get it canceled. 750 on Lit is exceptional considering how harsh its curve is. Improving that score wouldn’t really help you anywhere.

That is a solid score. Keep it. Throw a party.

Agree-- congrats on the 750! Worked out in our favor!!!

Maybe some nice lady at Collegeboard saw your score and decided that you really didn’t mean to cancel your score. But if you really did mean to cancel your score (because you were shooting for an 800), then you would call up and complain.

Naaah, seems like an unlikely scenario…
