Test Scores Submission

Hello all!

I am currently in the process of university applications. I have run into one trouble. In the standardized testings section, I have to fill in my ACT scores. I have taken the ACT once before, however, I would like to try to improve on this (retaking in October). For this required section, should I fill my previous score or put in “will be taking later”. And if I do fill in “will be taking later”, when I receive my newest score, what if it’s not even as good as the first one? Would I have no choice but to put in that one? Or can I still put in my previous score?

Sorry for the confusion. Urgent help needed!

Thanks!!!

Is it on the common app? Because if so then it doesn’t matter what you put in because your scores are sent to colleges directly from the act website or collegeboard’s website, and for those I believe you would send all scores from one date.

I am applying not only on common app, but through some other websites as well.

It depends on when you have to apply and when the scores come out. If your deadline is after you took the test but before the scores come out, then find out by calling/emailing/somehow contacting the admissions office of that college to see if you can send the scores when they come in, but that would mean that you have to send the scores from that and not the time you took it before, unless you work something out with them to send in your intial sitting and then send the second sitting when scores come in. But by contacting them you do commit to sending those no matter what they are.
If the scores come out before the deadline then don’t fill in that space yet, and wait until then to decide which you want to send.
If I were you, unless your first sitting was very bad, I would send that, and then once the second sitting scores come out send those as well, unless they are worse. Some colleges superscore, and if they don’t, seeing two sets of scores will tell them how you improved/didn’t improve. Taking the test twice is definitely good and most people improve.
Hope I helped!

Thanks for your advice!
