Hey quick question here!

I have a pretty low SAT score for Chicago's standards, however, I'm wondering how holistic they look at applications. I have a great GPA, and I have taken 16 AP/IB courses, all in math, English, 2 foreign languages (1 being a semantic language), science, and social studies.

I'm 2/400 and I also have an outstanding common app essay, and great/unique extra-curricular activites, yet I'm not sure I want to waste the application fee, if my SAT will automatically keep me out. I have an SAT of a bit above 2000 when superscored. Please let me know!

Please note, that I am a very unique applicant with distinct passion and clear interest.

Can you give your all SAT section scores? You have mentioned super scores.

Chicago does not consider writing section. If you have good CR and Math that will help.

Okay, if i have a pretty good math score, but a low CR score…how much will that hurt me?

Hard to say since do not know scores.

I believe it cares both equally. Let’s say you have 790 M and 660 CR so you have 1450 CR+M which will be at the low end of SAT middle range. It is still doable since 25% of 1426 enrolled students from class 2017 had lower than those scores.

But you will have some disadvantages SAT score-wise.

Just curious you look bright academically (GPA, rank, AP/IB, languages) why your CR scores are low - you have mentioned you have taken SAT at least twice.

If you really have “great/unique extra-curricular activities” like you have said I think it is worth trying. Chicago is one the those schools trying to be different and to find unusual talents.

Apply and see what happens. I would say that in general, U of C DOES love the high test scores. They want “brilliant” if they can figure out who that is (not sure they are as into “great ECs” as some other top schools). But you certainly can apply (EA if you are ready), and you may get in.
