Test scores

Which score is best to turn in?
ACT: 35, but super low essay score of 25
Sat: 2180 (800 verbal, 660 math, 720 writing, 10 essay)
Sat: 2150 (760 verbal, 690 math, 720 writing, 9 essay)
If it makes any difference, I want to apply to the Ut Austin college of natural sciences and major in comp sci

I’d definitely go with the ACT.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, but is the essay score not too low? Do you think it’s lowness might outweigh the non essay part?

A lot of peoples essay scores on the redesigned ACT have been unexpectadely low. There’s many articles about this if you google it. An essay score of 25 places you in the 90th percentile (http://collegeapps.about.com/od/theact/a/good-act-writing-test-score.htm). Plus, you have a chance to show off your true writing skills in your personal statement, essay supplements, and English grades. You should send the ACT score.

Send the ACT score, definitely.

If you’re so inclined, and the college participates, you can always superscore to get a 2210. Then you could send both the ACT and the SAT.

Your SAT score is 2210, superscored. Since most colleges (though not all) now superscore, you could send both the SAT and ACT score.
