Test your own language?

Recently, My friend told me that hes going to take SAT 2 Korean and he's Korean.
Is it bad or stupid to take the SAT Subject test that's your language? Cus if it's somewhat
helpful or an advantage. I was thinking about doing the samething lol.

Colleges often advise students to submit Subject Tests not in a native language. For example, if a college requires 2 tests, they recommend that the 2 used to fulfill the requirement not have one in the student’s native language. However, a college will still accept a Subject Test in a student’s native language on top of the required. And a good score will only help the application.

So it’s not bad, but it’s not recommended to use a Subject Test in native language to fulfill any requirement.

Also, on the Common app, there is a spot to indicate if you are fluent in any other languages besides English. The colleges will know that he is fluent in Korean, so they will view the test score in context.

I agree with @314159265. It’s not bad, and it never helps to fulfill the requirement, but another 800 never hurts haha
