1) Does anyone know if Stanford will still accept scores from the November 05, 2011 SAT Subject Test for the early application deadline? (November 1, 2011) I expect to receive the scores a few weeks after testing.

2) How fast is sending the scores directly versus me (I know there's some probably grammar error with this.) getting them first and seeing them first before manually sending them to Stanford? When you send the scores, do they instantly get there through some email system, or does it take a few days to get the college? (I'm assuming the method is the same for both sending directly and non-directly.)

Stanford wants all required testing done by the October test date. However, it does not require subject tests, but instead recommends them and thus they are not needed to complete your application file. Since you are allowed to supplement an already complete early action file after the deadline date, and assuming you apply on time and get your SAT score in, you can send Nov subject tests and if they arrive before a final decision has been made on you they will be considered. That will happen if you designate Stanford as one of your free sends on the application for the test. That is iin fact the fastest way to send a score since the score actually gets sent two days before it is released on-line to you. That means you must send the score blind without knowing what it is before it is sent. If you wait until after the score comes out to order it sent the probability that it will not arrive in time before a decision is made on you is much greater.

Many schools require testing to be completed by Dec for regular admission but then many accept though the January test date, although those will often say something like you should try to complete all testing by Dec but they will accept Jan if it arrives on time, and to assure that will happen you need to name the college as one of your four free sends on the test application or as additonal recipient if you have more than four. In other words, send it blind. You always have one risk when waiting until that test date that the scores will be too late even if the college accepts that date: College Board will withhold scores if they are investigating any improper conduct and that can happen to you just by being in the same room as persons expected of cheating with the result that your Jan scores may not be released in time to be considered by a college for admisison; if that happens to you, you have no recourse and cannot force CB to release the score.

Stanford, the UCs and Caltech are among those that say all testing needs to be completed by December. The ivies and MIT are in the group that accept Jan scores. Last accepted testing date can usually be found on-line for each college although it is sometimes not that easy to find; often you need to look for a “deadline” page.
