testing in another state

hey, quick question here: I planned on taking the ACT in september, then just went online to sign up and found out it is not offered in my state. Can students take the ACT in say a neighboring state or do we have to wait until our own state offers it? I need to take it in September!

If you're willing to drive to another state you can test there. Most colleges however will accept the October test.

I'm having this same dilemma. If I take the October test in my state, would the score arrive early enough to be considered for a Nov. 1st ED deadline?

HMC, what exactly is the date for the October test? Reports are generally mailed out in 4-7 weeks, but sometimes colleges can get them sooner. If the test date is late in October, though, I wouldn't recommend it.

And to the op, you can take it in a neighboring state, assuming you can get there.

Yeah it's pretty late- the October date is the 28th. I've ruled out the September test because Pennsylania is the closest test center location from Maine. oh well

All colleges will accept the October ACT

Even if applying ED?

No way the Oct. scores will be out before November, but I think a lot of schools will accept your scores later if you've submitted the application by the deadline. You really need to check with the school, though.
