Testing out of a language

So I would REALLY like to test out of taking a language (unless anyone can convince me otherwise that it is worth pursuing). I am tired/lazy at the moment so can someone just tell me the necessary AP/SATII scores to test out of Spanish? Muchas Gracias.

I know 4 or 5 on the AP exam will get you out of it. A 5 will give you a credit, while 4 just fulfills the requirement I’m fairly sure.

You need a 650 on Spanish

You can also take a test to place out:
[Penn Language Center // Competency Testing](http://www.plc.sas.upenn.edu/testing/)

So, wait. I got a 700+ Spanish SAT Subject Test. You’re saying I don’t have to take a language at all then?

Or should I for a GPA boost? I’m going to be premed.

Your 700+ in Spanish meets the language requirement already. If by GPA boost you are referring to taking a language you have already studied, you won’t get credit for it unless you take a placement test first and with a 700+ you have already tested out of the requirement.

I just went over this with my daughter’s academic advisor - she is a freshman in CAS.

what i think he means is that, Is the Spanish at Penn relatively easy to get an A in, and therefore can booost his gpa? bumpp

Do you need to score a 650+ on the plain Spanish subject test, or Spanish with Listening?

Is it possible to test out of a language not listed on the above site? If so how? Do I have to contact someone before I start my year?
