Testing out of lower div. math requirements?

So for the math major it says you need to take 53, 54, 55 series. I don't really want to have to bother with 55, I have a decent understanding of the material as it stands, basic understanding of sets, logic, proof methods (direct, contrapositive, induction), equivalence, cardinalities of sets, small amount of group theory. I also qualified for USAMO twice, if that says anything.

just skip 55 and go to upper divs and get A’s and go to the advisors afterwards and be all “ummm…dont really need 55…”

If you have previously taken a community college discrete math course that articulates to Math 55 according to [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) , then you should be fine if you submit your community college transcript.

hahahaha crow, does that really work??? I mean…I’m pretty sure you don’t need 53 to do well in upper divs either…

The math program is quite difficult. I heavily recommend that you just take it again for an easy A, social opportunities, and extra practice to feel out the college environment.

Take it for the easy A and the ego-boost.
