What exactly is on the spanish placement exam? I want to test out/study for it. Also, how difficult is the exam?

There is a large portion where you will listen to a tape and answer multiple choice questions. You get points for correct answers and lose them for wrong answers. Then there is a “reading” section which is more multiple choice. I felt it was difficult due to the format. I’d never taken a multiple choice Spanish test and the listening section was very quick, you have very little time to process what you are hearing and reading and answer the question, and when I took the test the audio didn’t match up with the booklet so you had to be even quicker.

I don’t remember what was actually on the test in terms of material but I have heard it isn’t too bad.

I personally didn’t find it too difficult. I took five years of Spanish (no APs) through junior year – basically hadn’t done anything related to Spanish for a year by the time I took the test, didn’t study, but managed to place out of the whole requirement. Looking back, I’m pretty stupid for not studying because I really didn’t like language and it would have really sucked to take it in college.

yeah, i really really don’t want to have to take a language in college, so i’m going to try to study for it somehow

Spanish placement test is pretty easy.

It is a pretty easy test. Like others said, just a listening and reading portion. All multiple choice.

I took it about six months ago and passed. The listening portion was easiest to me (had to line up pictures with what was being said), and then the reading portion was mostly grammar. It covered through the subjunctive. I think there was some conditional and future tense too, but there weren’t very many questions on those.

I thought it was easy, if you know your grammar well enough you should do fine.

If you don’t ever want to take Spanish again, pass out of this!!! Studying for this will be a lot easier than taking Spanish in college
