I currently have a 32 ACT and a 2060 SAT, I’m aware that they are comparable and I’m assuming I’ll opt to take both once more.
I plan on taking the September ACT (my second time) and if I got a 33 or lower I would take my SAT once more, if I got a 34 or higher I would be done with standardized testing and could focus on essays.
Is this plan solid? Also I need to take subject tests (not applying ED anywhere), would you reccomend I take the SAT IIs in October or will it depend on my ACT score? Feedback is appreciated!
will you be a Jr or Sr?
you cant take both the SAT AND subject tests on the same date. So if you are a Sr then you’ll need to take the subject tests in Sept and leave Oct open for a retake of the SAT[ if necessary]
OP, are you applying to schools in which an ACT score can replace a SAT and subject test scores?
Problem is, your ACT scores might arrive AFTER the November SAT deadline so you won’t know how you did on the ACT until after the deadline for registering for the SAT. How well do you think you can do on the SAT?
According to:
http://www.act.org/solutions/college-career-readiness/compare-act-sat/
http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html
your 32 ACT is like 1420 SAT CR+M or 2120 SAT CR+M+W. So your ACT is higher, but only by a little.
Have you identified opportunities to improve on either test without excessive amounts of preparation?
If you need to take SAT subject tests, you may as well take them on the first available date. Probably should have taken them at the end of junior year for those tests corresponding to junior year courses that you just finished.
@menloparkmom neither the sat or sat II is offered in september this year, so OP would have to take the Oct and Nov tests

I am a senior, the school’s I’m applying to can use ACT scores as replacements, and I’m aware that I cannot take the SAT IIs on the same day as the SAT. As of now I believe I’ll take the September ACT, the October Subject tests (have to anyways) then the November SAT if necessary (I’ll know my September ACT scores by this time)
You know your ACT scores anywhere between October 22 to November 6, which is nearly two weeks after the registration deadline of October 7. Even if you register via late registration which has a deadline of October 27, you still might not have received your scores yet.
The dates people are quoting don’t make sense. The ACT is on Sept 12. Shouldn’t scores be available in a couple weeks? The SAT is on Oct 3, and again on Nov 7. Registration deadline for Nov 7 is Oct 9. The ACT scores should be posted by then.
I think OP should take ACT in Sept. Subject tests in Oct. If ACT score isn’t as good as you want, do the SAT again in Nov.

ACT can take up to 8 weeks.
And sorry, I meant “September 22-November 6”, it’ll probably be posted by the SAT deadline, but there is a chance that it won’t.
@me29034 @rdeng2614 I’m doing what me29034 suggested
