Hi, I want to know if taking Testmasters is worth it for my verbal scores. On Dec. SAT I got a 690V, 690M, 1380 total and on the January SAT i got a 660V, 760M, 1420 total. Obviously my score went down in verbal and there was sooo many vocab words I didn't know. I'm class of 2006 and have to take the new SAT in the fall for the writing, so is it worth it to take the class for the verbal and writing instruction? Or should I just study the word list Testmasters puts out online? I would like to get about a 740 on Verbal for a 1500 composite. Thanks

the general advice here seems to be that you should take the class if you can easily afford it. But i don't think it's necessary, most of the stuff they tell you is so obvious you spend most of your time wondering why you really are there in the first place.
On the other hand, most people on this site seem to agree that practising really helps. Since you're taking the new SAT, I would recommend buying The Official Sat thingy by collegeboard and working your way through that. The Testmaster vocabulary list worked like a gem for me!!! Most of the words that were difficult on the Jan. SAT were right on the Testmaster vocab list. So study the list for your test date, if there is one, and increase your reading load a lot.

so should i try with just studying the list and see how i do first, and then pay money for the class if it doesn't work?

by "if it does't work" I assume you mean if the list is not accurate. I have only used it once so......
as i said, it depends if you are willing to fork out the cash, if so, why not?
but with my experience, the classes are not worth the money. i find working by myself at my own pace, skipping useless topics and concentrating on my weaknesses; extremely to my advantage.
it all depends on your personal preferences.

How can I get the Testmakers List? Do you have to pay for it? I'm planning to take the new SAT in June.

By the way, the list worked for me. However, I did hear of less relevance on the second version of the SAT delivered on January 22nd (the non-Native American version).

thank you so much snowbug!

do you know if they have one for the new June SAT? if so, where can I find that?

When will they release the list for the march exam? also, will it be found on the same site you posted? thank you.

There will not be a list for the March exam... but there will be lists for the ones after March.
This is what I was told.

testmasters is awesome from what i have heard
im thinking about taking their online course over the summer if my parents can come up with the money because the closest place to me where they have courses is ATL which is like 1 hr away so there is no way i could do that
im keeping my fingers crossed
