has anyone taken testmasters? I'm planning on taking it in a month (about 700 dollars) and I was wondering if it really helps!

It helped me. However, I only picked up valuable skills for verbal. Its math classes are almost worthless. Its real strength lies in the 40+ practice tests it has. I took 20 of them in addition to the 10 in the Real SATs book and got a 1580 on the first try (Should've gotten 1600, but I had not slept the day before because of a debate tournament. Didn't bother to retake it though.). Don't know how valuable the practice tests are now since the new one's coming out, but I still advise you to take the course.

CoreanKim, did u use the vocab list that they gave u at the end? I just got a copy which says that if you memorize the whole list (about 400 words), you have a 99% chance of getting all the words on specific sat date which is on the list (this list is for the Jan 22nd test). So is this true?

wat kind of verbal skills do they teach you? mind sharing?

Although I did not take the testmasters course, I took all the material they gave to my friend. Therefore If you can get all the material from someone, then you should probably go ahead and do that instead of actually paying so much money.

The main technique they use is to take timed tests and I believe that they don't do anything but tell you few new things but focus onn you taking the tests. The only good is the vocab list which you can get from the web also for free - those who have their old vocab lists can find the web page on the front page.

Their math is also not all that great... therefore try getting their book, vocab list and practice tests from someone to save you some collegemoney.

If anyone needs the webpage, you can send me a private message.

Good luck... And by the way I increased my verbal score from 65 to 85 percentile in just 8 months. ( inspite of the fact that I am an International student and English is my Second Language)
My SAT score was - 1450 (800m,650v)

so's mine i learned english right before high school

hey i am not an english speaker too. aiming for a 1550

me no english either, yet i live in Canada :(
anyway, wow, JUST 8 MONTHS???

i have till the end of the school year to make higher than 1500!!(well im not sure how that applies to the new SAT) I'm just so stressed out right now, because I learned english just before high school and I am especially worrying about the vocabulary section, AP tests, SAT2 tests and more extra curricular activities so i can get into an ivy league next yr!! i just wana cry!

The 500 list Testmasters released before my SAT date had almost all the relevant words. However, people who took the next test were complaining about how inaccurate the list was. I think it's a hit and miss thing.

Isn't that why it has a specific date on it?

The list they were complaining about was for their test date.

ok , i have the jan.22 list. will it be in acurate???was the dec. list inaccurate 4 ppl who took the test???

double bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol give it up Nitinrao... if you think the list will be inaccurate, don't study it.
if you think it will be accurate, study it.

It's your decision on what lists to study.

michael_pham,

Logically, since he is unable to ascertain the accuracy of the list, he is seeking the advice of others on this forum who have used it. It would be foolish to capriciously choose a list, especially with the next SAT on the horizon.

i took the dec. 4th test and got a 1600 in part from studying the word list. it had every single analogy and sentence completion word on there. i took the class, which didn't help much, but the word list makes all the difference. i have the jan list if anyone wants it. iamthewalrus155 @ gmail.com
