Tests in BC Calc

Hey,

Just out of curiousity, how much are tests worth in your BC Calc class. Mine are worth 60%. For someone who's used to having test only be worth 30%, I'm feeling intimidated.

Grades break down like this:
60% tests
20% quizzes
20% homework

I would seriously hate a class that tests are only 30%. Why aren't tests almost 100%?!

100% Tests and Quizzes (No curve and are virtually the same difficulty but each differ in the amount of content)

Why would you have a homework grade in an AP class? If you're not responsible enough to do some learning, you don't deserve to be in that class. How is it fair that one school gives credit for homework (in an AP class)? What is the reasoning behind it, exactly? I understand that if there was no homework, then no one would do it, but there are other aspects of it that are beneficial: Students will not feel pressured to answer EVERY single question, even if they know how to do it. It will prepare them better for college, and it would truly show how mature you can be.

70% tests, 20% quizes, 10% homework

KRabble....most AP classes have homework and homework grades..... i guess your school is probalby like super smart or something.....but we live in the hood and we do it our way.....lol.....4 on ap calc test....go me....lol

Our school isn't super smart, but it's just expected that we do not rely on such a cushion in college. I would imagine that a homework grade is prevalent in most AP classes in other schools. By the way, we have a project and papers grades for AP English and AP USH, and lab grades for AP sciences, but these will not bring up your grade.

Plus, it's fun to watch 10th and 11th graders cry when they find out how much harder classes are without a homework grade! It's actually kind of sad watching 10th graders come from the middle school (it's 7th through 9th grade, weird..) and find that their class ranks dropped significantly lol.. I'm sorry for coming off as a sadist, but it's annoying to talk to freshman that brag about their straight A's. I'm not one to hold a grudge, but I feel better when I find these same braggarts with nothing but B's and C's for the rest of their high school careers!

Homework at my school was graded for correctness, not completeness. It was also fairly difficult, which made the AP BC exam very easy (10 got 5's, 2 got 4's). Sometimes the teacher checked homework; sometimes she didn't.

Also, you will have math homework in college, and it will count. Have you heard of "problem sets?"

Also, AP is generally pretty easy compared to IB...and Calc BC can't handle IB Math HL. IB Math requires difficult "portfolios" that you write up sort of like mini-textbooks. They don't count toward your scholastic grade, but they are graded very harshly. :p

We don't have a homework portion of our grade. But our tests are split up so in the fall our grade breakup is Participation 15% Quizzes 20% Midterm 10% Tests 40% Final 15%.
During the Spring our grades are Participation 15% Quizzes 10%
AP Reviewpackets & Prep Quizzes 10% Tests 30% Final 15%. As that means that our spring grades only add up to 80% I don't know where the other 20% is going. I know we get to play board games in class during may though.

lol....my teacher...100% test...no hw...no quiz...no anything fancy...

pretty straight forward..I love him!!!!
