Teter dorm

I saw the dorms at orientation but I did not pay attention to storage. Are there shelves in Teter? I believe there are no dressers so just trying to figure out where to store stuff and what to bring.

I’m going to guess that all Teter dorms are similar enough that the following will be true for all of them.

There are some shelves behind the door into the room. It’s probably 4 or 5 total, and each is about 16-18 inches wide. I don’t think those are adjustable. You will have to share them with your roommate. DS and DD used those for things like laundry detergent, extra towels, etc.

The two closets are each two sided. One side has a pole for hanging clothes. The other side has three very deep shelves and two narrower shelves. These worked well for folded clothes. I bought some containers so that socks and undergarments didn’t get lost in there. I would recommend you wait until you get to B-ton to make those purchases. At the top of each closet is a door that pulls up so that larger items such as luggage can be stored up there.

There is a single shelf on top of each desk. I believe each room also had a small bookcase.

Thanks rrah

yankees, son scheduled the orientation this weekend, is only one day or two days for him to live in Dorm ? Do we need to sign up for the dorm before going to the orientation or he can do that when we arrive at the campus ? During the orientation, does he need to schedule all the classes in order to register or he can schedule the classes later ?

Orientation is only one night so you’ll only spend 1 sweltering night at Wright Quad. They will assign you to a room when you check in, you don’t need to do anything until then.

The second day of orientation consists of signing up for classes. You meet with an adviser and go over potential majors/what you want to study and they will help you sign up accordingly. You can always change your schedule but after 2 days I believe there’s a fee (which will just be added to your bursar bill on OneStart).

applepear…when you sign up for orientation you can say you want to stay in the dorms. I spent one night in the dorm. At orientation he will will meet with an advisor and select his classes. He will then go to the library and register for his classes.

EDIT: Okay so I guess new students don’t stay in Wright anymore. My apologies, it’s been 3 years since I’ve attended orientation… oops

thanks a lot, Yankees and hi-im-leila, it is great help.

You should have a email for pre-registration foe staying overnight. You register at Wright, but stay in Union Center, one night stay, there is a charge $40ish that is put on your bursar bill (as well as a charge for your orientation guests). You can check luggage at Wright registration and they will move it, or you can check it directly at Union Center, which we did (she was there taking calc exam anyway.) Remember you will recheck your luggage in the morning and pick it up before you leave.

Son does not decide what to study for, so he will keep his major as undecided, and find out when he is sophomore. In this case, does he still have opportunity to transfer into Kelly ? will it be too late ? thanks.

applepear, this link should provide all the info your son would need about transferring to Kelley as a sophomore:
[Current IU Students: Undergraduate Program : Kelley School of Business: Indiana University](<a href=“Undergraduate | Bachelor's Degree in Business | Indiana Kelley”>Undergraduate | Bachelor's Degree in Business | Indiana Kelley)
It is not too late, but if your son is considering transferring to Kelley as a sophomore, he will need to take 4 classes during his freshman year to satisfy the requirements to transfer to Kelley. So he needs to consider this when deciding on his freshman year classes.
