<p>I suppose a lot would depend on the family's situation. A wealthier family would benefit from tax savings, but might be less inclined to send their child to UT than say SMU. If I recall correctly, Princeton offered a GREAT prepayment deal a few years ago. Unfortunately, taking advantage required the child to actually matriculate there. Um, bit of a "catch" there.</p>
<p>We are active in the first plan, and it really was terrific, since our original investment was but a half of what the plan paid in 3 years. And we didn't buy in when D was a baby, but she was already in school. No way could we have earned that much in other investments. This one doesn't seem to do the same thing. Just the bit that was reporeted didn't say whether or not it had to be used at a TX school, because the old one didn't and they have been sending the average TX tuition out of state every year.</p>
<p>Yeah, the details are scant. I spend a little time last night on the website, but it'll take a phone call to see if some aspects of it are as good the original. We're in the same boat: bought four years for S1 and nothing for s2.</p>
