Texas A&M Blinn TEAM or TCU

I’m planning on majoring in Communications as of right now. I was accepted into the Blinn TEAM program at A&M (which I was really surprised about because my grades and test scores were average/ above average for A&M) and accepted to TCU for communications. I have always wanted to go to a large 4-year University like A&M but it wasn’t even my first choice (UT was and I didn’t get in) so I’m not sure if spending a year at a community college would be worth it. As for TCU, I didn’t really think about it very much while awaiting decisions because I applied just to apply. The problems I have with TCU are that it’s small, conservative, and expensive. However, it’s communications program is highly ranked and I DID get full admission so I feel like I should really consider. Any suggestions?

P.S. I’m really thinking about trying to transfer to UT Austin at some point so which would be the best path there?

Did you get capped at UT-Austin? Do the CAP and then transfer to UT will be your best path.

I did get CAP at UT but I heard that it’s really risky because even if you fulfill the requirements, you are only guaranteed admission to the colleges of undgrad studies and liberal arts. So since I wouldn’t be attending either of those colleges, I would be put into the competitive transfer process to get into the other programs.

???

Since you mentioned in your post that you wanted to transfer to UT at some point, IMO it is better to take the CAP route to complete the required courses within UT system. You can apply to majors other than LA or UGS as a CAP student or as a transfer applicant from any other colleges. I also don’t think Communications major is as competitive to get in as Business or Engineering major.

According to UT CAP-

If money is an issue, community college is your best option and then apply for transfer after one (or two) year(s). Another suggestion besides the CAP is to apply to UTD. I am sure they are still taking applications. No matter what path you choose, it is very important to have a great GPA the first year to have a successful transfer to UT. Best of luck!
