Texas A&M Galveston

My son was recently accepted into TAMG and Found out today he was wait listed for TAMU CStation. Any past experience with TAMG? Blinn program? From what I have read so far on these forums a final decision may not come until late May or so which seems late to be accepting to other colleges for dorms, class selections, etc. This is our first time in college admission process so very new to us. Thank goodness for this forum!

Thanks for any info!

This is our first time too. TAMUG’s website says the $250 housing deposit is refundable. I look forward to seeing other people’s experiences.

Yes, we submitted the housing deposit of 250 to TAMUG by mar 1 to guarantee on campus housing. We recently attended an orientation there and they said we had until June 1 to make a decision and still receive a refund. However I’m now wondering with the lengthy wait list and possible Blinn team option out there if there is enough time. Also wonder about timing for Blinn team and what are acceptance criteria.

June 1 is plenty of time if you are waiting on a wait list decision from A&M.

Klparker thanks. We made an appt to speak with an admissions person at tamu this week. Hope to get some more information. Does anyone know of tha odds of acceptance in the blinn program as it sounds as if only a few students receive full admittance from the waiting list. Not sure though. Any information anyone has in this area would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have read that 500 students are offered Blinn Team each year.
And from what I saw someone else post less than 120 were selected off the waiting list for full admission.
I’m not sure of the odds of being offered a Blinn Team spot - but I feel sure that a appt with an admissions person at TAMU is a great idea!
Good luck to your son!
I just spoke to my A&M roommate - her son is going to do TAMUG his first year. They are still waiting on A&M, but feel a wait list is in thier future… TAMUG is a great route to go.

We will probably also go visit blinn to take a look at the campus. I personally like the tamug option and was impressed with the campus and admissions staff, but not sure my son is quite convinced due to the size and location. Which interestingly was what appealed to me. A year to a kid seems like forever!

Texassky what major is your son interested in?

My son is on waitlist with Kines major. Main interest in A&M is Corps of Cadets. He was waitlisted/Blinn Team on Monday and applied to TAMUG today. We both spoke with campus admissions and are waiting on a call back from their Rotc (which they are really geared toward Navy (it seems) to us at TAMUG). They say he will need to do General Studies as a fish and then transfer to College Station into his major. We are so confused, however the staff at TAMUG is very helpful in this situation. It just seems like so much work for staff at both schools to apply, waitlist and apply, get housing, etc at another school.

He is leaning towards business, agri business or maybe kinesiology. He will have 24 hours of college credits when he graduates hs, mostly general basics.

I have slowly found here at Cstat that I may have fit right in pretty well at TAMUG. I would have loved to be at school on the coast.
