Texas A&M Helicopter Crash

You may have heard that an Army helicopter crashed at Texas A&M University today. The Army ROTC cadets were doing their winter field training exercise and 8 cadets (students) had just gotten off the helicopter. When it took off again, it went up a little ways, then the tail rotor failed and the helicopter started spinning and crashed. There were 4 Army Nat'l Guard members on board and one ROTC staff person from the university. S just found out that the staff person was a young man he knows who graduated this past year and was serving on the ROTC staff. He was killed. He was engaged to be married in a couple of months. Very sad.

That is very sad; I'm sorry to hear it. My condolences to the community and the families.

Just a quick correction....it turns out the young man who died was not the one my S knew. There were two young men who graduated last year from the Corps of Cadets who had the same name. It was the other one. S is relieved that the guy he knows is alive but still is so sad for the family and friends of the young man who died.

It was very sad to hear especially since I'm an undergrad at A&M. We got a CodeMaroon telling us about it.
