Class of 2022 applicants learned today of a new Admissions Decision that comes from A&M and that is an offer of admissions to the A&M Higher Education Center In McAllen.

This is a new decision for A&M to offer applicants and there will be many questions about the program.

What we know so far.

I just “chatted” with Joseph. Here is the conversation.

Thelma Says: Is the center for higher education in McAllen an admissions decision from A&M or is it strictly a program one must apply to directly?

Joseph says: You can apply directly to McAllen, but TAMU College Station also make offers there as well especially for people who have indicated they want that option.

Thelma Says: So, if an applicant applies to a major or the major changes to their second choice major, and did not indicate on apply TX that they indicated the McAllen campus, A&M can offer them the McAllen campus instead of the College Station campus, much like they do with other admissions decisions to Gateway, Blinn Team, or the engineering academies at Blinn Byan and McAllen?

Joseph says: Yes

As well, my son got the “McAllen” location change today. I spoke to the prospective student center in McAllen. She said this would be considered a full offer for students…Aggie ring…and such, just like an offer to Galveston would be considered a full admit decision. She suggested the class sizes would be extremely small. However, I do not like the idea that there are no dorms or college life. I asked if there was a way to appeal the decision…no.
She did mention that decisions are still rolling and it was “possible” that it could change back to CS.
As well, I talked to Trish in admissions in McAllen…very helpful and informative.

Please share your information and experiences on this new admissions decision by A&M.

From @class93mom I was told by both to wait until AIS completely updates before doing anything else. If it remains McAllen, I was told you either accept this offer or deny. There are no appeals since you were admitted to the university, and that changing the major would not make a difference at this point. She could also accept and transfer after a semester. She could also reapply for the spring semester to CS.
