Texas A&M Info?

Someone recently told me that I should look into applying to Texas A&M. I was just wondering how good their business school is? Is the "Aggie" network really worth it? And also if i have a chance at being in the honors program?

Stats:
5.2 GPA
3.9 Unweighted
ACT-31
Eagle Scout
High School athletics all 4 years 3 on the varsity team
Varsity Letterman
Officer position in a club last 2 years
Work experience as a life guard at YMCA last 2 years
Not in the top 10%

Their business school is excellent. It may not be the top in the country, but you can’t go wrong getting your degree at A&M. The Aggie Network is very worth it if you are staying in the Texas area to work. Perhaps a little less pull elsewhere.

Assuming you are a high school senior, you need to apply NOW if you want to get into the business school. It appears you are an automatic admit (assuming you are in the top 25% or higher of your class), but the business school fills up very quickly.

I work with a young business grad from A&M. He graduated with a decent gpa and had companies looking for HIM, taking him out to dinner and giving him offers.

The ring speaks.

per the latest US News and World Report, Mays Business School is ranked #14 in public universities and #23 overall… It’s is a very strong program.

As far as honors college your stats are pretty close to my D. She did not get into Business Honors but did get into the Honors program via the wait list

My D is a Junior at Mays. She was strongly recruited for her Spring paid internship, chose a top 4 company, and is pretty much been guaranteed a job after grad. Join the business fraternity…lots of networking and support there.

Yeah, we had texts going back and forth after the newest rankings. I wish it would have been last year so I could’ve cashed in on some of the new recruiting. Lol

I’m a senior here in Mays and I think it’s really on the up. I have good stats and am now getting the interviews from those stats, but I wouldn’t say it’s typical for students to be taken to dinner by firms and them guaranteeing you jobs. However, make no mistake the possibilities are really good. With the new prestige, I’m fairly certain many F100 firms will start recruiting on campus on top of the many that already do. I can say for a finance major, it is very possible to get into corporate finance at the F250 level, commercial banking, investment banking to an extent , or consulting.

Howdy dallaskid!

Glad to hear about your interest in Honors!

While academic preparation is taken into account in the selection process for the University Honors Program, it is not weighted as heavily as your responses on our applicaiton. For tips on preparing for the application and a link, see [Honors Program](http://honors.tamu.edu/ProspectiveStudents.html).

There is also a separate application for the Business Honors program which you should be able to find via the ApplyTexas application. Business Honors has two application periods for freshman, both before and after the first semester. For more information about their program, see [Business Honors Program | Mays Business School | Texas A&M University](http://bizhonors.tamu.edu).
