Texas A&M, Maryland, or Virginia Tech?

I have been accepted to all three schools in engineering but Im not sure which one to choose. They all seem like sick schools, which makes it a hard decision. If anyone has some input, that would be awesome.

I don't know what "sick" means, but we do know about Texas A&M. It is a very unique culty kind of school -students and alumni very loyal, strange rituals at sports games, very conservative and traditional. We did not like the campus, or town, or much about it when we visited, although people were friendly. Engineering department is good.

I've been accepted to Maryland as well, so my vote goes there. I'm also in engineering. I only applied because I knew they had a fabulous program.

I'm from Texas. I've been to A&M a couple of times. DO NOT GO THERE!

Why didn't you like A&M?

I do not know why there are so many negative comments about TAMU – all from people who did not go there. I actually did attend – and received an engineering degree from the school.

You will get a wonderful, solid technical education there. The engineering school has excellent facilities, dedicated teachers, and a good reputation. The Aggie Network is famous for helping students find internships and for helping grads find good jobs.

That being said, even I would admit that TAMU is definitely not for everyone. The rah – rah school spirit is everywhere and cannot be escaped. The student population is almost uniformly conservative and there is a strong military presence and tradition at A&M. It is very important to visit the campus and see for yourself if it is a good fit, rather than relying on others’ opinions. More so than most schools, TAMU is very unique and in a class by itself. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there – and I was a “Yankee” (from New York) – so it was a big culture shock, but the Texans were warm and friendly to me. I had a great experience there.

I hated the campus- it was ugly and with nothing to do in college station. It is very agricultural-based; all the land around College Station it just grass, grass, and more grass. As anxiousmom said, it's very cult-like while being very conservative and traditional.

That said, I might be a bit biased cause I'm a longhorn :)

Maryland...

Va Tech when i visited had an amazing campus. Very beautiful i applied and got accepted to their architecture program. However i dont think im going to attend. I'd recommend visiting it though because it is truly a beautiful campus
