Hello, as an international student, is there any chance I could study at either Texas A&M or Notheastern for no more than $6,000 a year? (Either by getting need-based aid or a scholarship)
Very little chance. I’d say no chance at all at Texas A&M.
Northeastern does not give need based aid to internationals and the max merit aid is $30,000/year. Full cost is $62,000/year.
No. Plus, have you included the cost of travel expenses?
What are your stats and test scores?
I’m not an international expert so hopefully someone else can chime in and help you.
Texas A&M does give merit aid and even getting a small scholarship can bring your costs down to in-state tuition. But it is hard to see who gets it and who doesn’t…I wouldn’t count on it for sure.
No… Are there actually any good Early Action schools which are generous with international students please?
I haven’t taken the SAT yet but I’m ranked 1st at school and my practice tests results suggest I could get about a 1470, would it help bring it down to lower than in-state?
Btw thank you very much everyone!
You need to dig into the International Students forum and the Scholarships and Financial Aid forum…just sit and read for a few hours, take notes and learn. Good luck!
If it is any consolation…students who live in those states and grow up there rarely get a deal that would put costs at that level either.
There are schools that give automatic scholarships based on GPA + scores, even to international students. But none of scholarships will cover room, meals, expensives, which will cost approximately $15k/year.
With a 1470 SAT, UT Dallas could offer you a full tuition plus $1000/semester award. It would still leave probably $12,000/yr outstanding. If you could raise your SAT to a 1540 level, the semester award could rise to $3000 making it closer to what you need. The awards are not automatic but they do offer many of them. UTD is a good engineering school.
