Texas A&M to help pay cost to visit?

crazy

My son just got a letter from Texas A&M. They offered a full ride to NMF, approx $34,000 a year, and they offered to reimburse us up to $300 in travel costs to come visit the campus.

Man life is different than when I went to School. I suspect all NMSF got this letter but it was kind of an eye opener to me.

Brandon is a NMSF also. He received a letter from UT at Dallas, offering to pay up to $1,000 travel costs for him to come visit the campus. Same offer your S got - basically a free ride if he becomes a NMF.

He hasn't received anything from TX A&M yet, but perhaps it's coming.

He's been getting lots of letters from schools congratulating him on his NMSF, as I'm sure your son has. Word gets around fast in college circles, doesn't it?

A very hearty congratulations on your son's achievement!

A full ride for NMF at TAMU worth $34,000 a year?

You may want to check the fine print of the offer:

And, as a small FYI, here's the COA at Texas A$M

*Total $ 18,318 *

The OOS tuition is waived for anyone holding a scholarship worth $1,000. See

I thought it was off but the letter states. You will be guaranteed an additional $34,000 package for being named a NMF. In addition, you can apply for additional schoalrships.

It may not be a full ride you are correct but it is a nice package. Of course my son just said well there is no skiing in Texas and pitched it. sigh

University of central Florida also offered S a free visit last year when he was a NMF.
His visit for interview for the McNair Scholarship at U South Carolina was free for him and one parent (flights+hotel)
He was also offered a free trip for the interview weekend at U Michigan (I forge tthe name of the scholarship). He turned it down as he had already decided on USC.
