Texas A&M Transfer

Hi guys,
I am currently a senior in high school. I originally applied to Texas A&M as a business major, but was given PSA instead. All my life music has been a major part with PSA I would not be able to bring my musical talent with me and would have to skip out a year without being in any concert bands or marching band. My parents wouldn’t let me go to PSA due to that reason. I am looking to transfer in the spring of 2020 or possibly the fall 2020. I have been doing my research and have found that transferring to Texas A&M is a lot harder than it seems. Am I just psyching myself out or is this true? Texas A&M has always been my dream school. As a senior in high school I have a 3.98 GPA and I am in the top 12% of my graduating class. I have a ton of extracurricular activities as well asPlenty of volunteer hours. I was selected to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade in New York while representing Texas on the clarinet. As of now I will except any major they give me. What is my best bet of trying to get in?

Are you certain that no PSA schools you were offered have any band or even ensemble possibilities?
You have great! GPA and class rank, but admissions were brutal this year. Also, do you have any backup schools? Do you want to be a business major or are there other majors you would consider? We can help if you give us a bit more info.

West Texas A&M has a marching band!

Prairie View A&M has an amazing band and is super close to Cstat campus (about 40 minutes straight highway).

@forest3456 Curious where you got the idea that no A&M system school had a marching band or ensemble bands. And easy google search of each school “bands” brought up websites for every system school

A&M Kingsville http://www.tamukbands.com/
Tarleton https://www.tarleton.edu/band/index.html

PSA isn’t for everyone and the major you want at A&M must participate in PSA. Mays does not participate in PSA. What major are you wanting to pursue?

Are you interested in the A&M marching band and the Corps once you transfer or one of the other bands/orchestras? https://musa.tamu.edu/university-bands/

If you are still able/interested in participating in PSA, these are the participating majors. http://admissions.tamu.edu/PSA/

If you attend a non system school, follow the transfer course sheet for the major you want to transfer into. Most majors will require you to complete 2 full semesters before being admitted. You can apply beginning of second semester though Spring grades may have to be submitted before admitted. Each major has requirements so be sure to take note. http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/majors
