Texas A&M University Class of 2026

anybody know how long it takes to hear back from Galveston or when the absolute latest you have to hear back by is?

@sk_420 what quarter did A&M give you, since your school was unranked? Agree with the others, how prestigious your school is doesn’t carry any weight. Mays doesn’t admit students, it all goes thru Office of Admissions, so someone from Mays Undergrad office would have no way of knowing how the admissions process is going. With such a high SAT, are you NM Commended, Semi of Finalist?
Econ is a solid major. You can always minor in Business, if change of major doesn’t work out.

I was in top 25% according to TAMU and was given my admission on Dec. 3rd. I’m now hearing ppl that got in around Jan 20th and it’s so surprising how I wasn’t given a seat.

This is really surprising for me considering my stats.

There is a parent on one of the Aggie parent FB page who says her daughter applied 1st week in August, was 10.4% rank, solid scores & resume, applied to Mays. She found out this weekend she got PSA. I’ve seen many with much higher then 3.8 gpa who didn’t get in. If you’d been some form of National Merit, that could’ve helped. It’s always best to apply EARLY, especially for Mays.
I don’t know how the holistic process works-I don’t think anyone truly knows-but I’m assuming the few that got the last Mays admission spots in January were early admits with very high stats/scores/resume, and Office of Admissions pulled them early to review?
With such a late admissions date, you’re lucky to get Econ, based on many things I’ve read. It’s been a super crazy, competitive year for sure!

I honestly wouldn’t consider myself as lucky to get ECON, but it is what it is. TAMU needs to take accountability for the things their admissions officers say however as they constantly give misinformation which misleads students like myself on what to do.

Agree that Office of Admissions needs a serious overhaul. I know MANY people that got PSA only tho, who would give their right arm for your Econ spot.

I absolutely feel your frustration, but it does clearly state on Mays website to apply early. This was taking place long before this year’s holistic review cycle. And all admissions questions go thru Office of Admissions, not Mays.

I am so sorry, I was hoping he would get team.

He needs to do what’s best for him and will make him happy without people talking in his ear. The last few months have been stressful, and outside influences is probably the last thing he needs. Keep us updated on what he decides to do.

Thank you, I will pass it along.

I am shocked your daughter did not get in. There was absolutely no rhyme or reason to the admissions process this year as so many great students were given PSA. We are doing one last visit to Tarelton and Tech this week, and she will make a final decision. She will probably choose Tarelton and then transfer in. If mine goes the Tarelton route, they will have to meet up on campus.

Does PTA at blinn guarantee you admission to college station? Also what are the chances of successfully transferring into Mays business if I do PSA at corpus christi? I’m trying to decide between the programs as I wanted to major in business if possible. If not I will major in international studies.

@bm23 Business is not a PSA pathway. You would have to select another major, complete PSA successfully, then enter A&M as General Studies. Then you would start the Change of Major to Mays…which isn’t easy. It’s listed on the website what classes are needed, when the application times are open. Mays also doesn’t accept more than 60 hours, so if you’re coming in with a lot of Dual Credit, going PSA route may not be for you.

If you believe you were misinformed you can complain to office of the provost
https://provost.tamu.edu/Contact

If you have the time to check this long thread as well as previous years, admission will never chance anyone acceptance over the phone. So for someone telling you
“will get in if apply a week earlier” is unheard of. Make sure you let the Provost office know which number you called.

Freshmen admission not handling by department is the trend for many colleges for year, especially people are very sensitive to the admission scandal.

I have a lot of AP and dual credit hours so should I do the PSA route or PTA? (International studies major)

I don’t know anything about International Studies. Is that offered as a PSA major? There are very limited majors offered thru PSA, so you must stick with what’s offered, for the guaranteed pathway.
Wait and accept AP with an advisor, Dual Credit applies automatically.

@bm23 here ya go! International Studies is offered as a PSA Pathway! I’d definitely take that vs trying to get into Mays, especially if you have a fair amount of AP & DC. I don’t know much about PTA, and it’ll depend if you are okay starting out at another campus, or content to be attending Blinn?

thank you!

So sad and agree. Did I ruin my chances?

They said that they accepted me early because my application stood out and they did tell me that if I’d applied earlier, then I would’ve gotten into Business since I was a part of the first pool of students admitted after Mays “supposedly” closed. But seriously, I want to file a complaint against the Office of Admissions for hiring inaccurate student employees who give misinformation and give false hopes.

Thank you so much! Looks like your son has some pretty great schools to consider! Ours is going for the International Studies major with a concentration in International Business. He logged in today and saw he’s been awarded a scholarship. He’s very excited! Good luck to your son on his decision!

Who said they accepted you early? I may offend you in this next set of statements. I have been doing this for over 5 years now. I do not know everything by any means. But I have never had a student told why they were accepted. That they were accepted early. That if they had applied early, they would have gotten into Mays. That they can exchange a major with someone who got Mays. Etc etc.

Like literally everything you have said that came from admissions is crazy sounding.

None of it makes sense. So if you were told all of this… I would definitely contact the director of admissions. Tell them everything you were told and how frustrated you are. Then come back and let us know what happened.
