Texas a &m has been my dream since I was 5 and although my SAT scores are rough and holistic review is rougher, I find myself always trying to find my chances of getting in
Here are my stats(:
SAT:
M:600
CR:540
W:440
ACT: tba
Top 25%
GPa: 3.88 unweighted
Extra curricular:
Drill team 2 years officer 1 year
Short term exchange student
Student gov't since 5th grade
Pre med electives
Community service:
100+ hours
Worked part time: since sophomore year

I've gone on an official college visit as well as applied on August first. I have letters of rec from both my AP and Math teacher (both aggie alumni)
And am a female applying for biomedical engineering (I know my major doesn't play a role in my acceptance but just a little insight)
Thank you for your help!(:

Your verbal + math is a little below their average; I’d say high match/low reach because of your ECs. However, if you get a good score on your ACT, your chances will improve astronomically. Your SAT just barely makes the cut for Texas admissions requirements.

If you’re OOS, I’d say it’s a reach.

What’s your high school coursework (APs and honors)?

I’m in state! I’ve been in almost all honors since freshman year (I probably should have included that) and took all pre ap freshman and sophomore year, AP English comp, APUSH, and APPsych junior year and am taking AP gov/APEcon, AP English lit, AP Bio and AP Calc senior year(:

Your coursework is pretty good then; is there any reason for the low SAT? Have you taken the ACT yet? If not, then I’d study quite a bit.

Honestly I’m a slow test taker which I found really hard while trying to take the SAT haha! But I am about to take the ACT which I am predicted to do much better on! Fingers crossed!

IF you are in top 25%, you are still eligible for academic admission by getting the higher scores. Worth every minute of your time to study/review/ get tutored for the ACT and SAT. Sign up for every available test date until Dec 1. I would say as is, you would probably be offered Blinn Team for Engineering at best based on last year’s responses on CC , of course every year is different. If you want to be more competitive for a full time admission offer, you’ll need to raise your scores quite a bit (much closer to the 1300 mark)- you can do it- study hard! Good luck!

ACT was much easier for me! I’m valedictorian and A&M is my only choice. Honestly you really need to improve your test score! Your ECs and coursework are great but your SAT is barely above minimum. I hope you do good on your ACT!
