Texas A&M

So I’m nearing the date for the application deadline. For Texas A&M and I’m still debating whether or not I have a good chance of getting accepted into this

prestigious university. I currently have a 3.9 GPA give or take. I am in a class of about 960 students. I am taking dual enrollment college courses for US History, and English. I take very rigorous courses. I am currently taking AP Cal. I have been in basketball all 4 years of high school, which includes all summer. I have about 300 hours. I am graduating Distiguished Honors. I am a Hispanic Student. What are my chances?

What did you get on your ACT/SAT?

I got a 1520 but I am taking the SAT in October again.

Great! Texas A&M looks for a 1300 combined reading and math.

Do you believe I have a decent chance of getting in?

Yes! You have a HIGH chance! Your GPA is within that range that Texas A&M looks for, your ECs seem to great. 300+ hours!!! That should help as well.

Texas A&M does not look at GPA, they look at class rank. IF you’re a TX resident and top 10% you have automatic admission. IF you are in top quartile and 1300 SAT/30 ACT you’d be an academic admit- residency doesn’t matter. If neither, then you’re a review admit and everything counts, 50% of decision is based on ranks & scores and 50% on everything else on the application. It is rolling admissions, so the quicker you apply the better. Good luck!

Hi, Good luck to you! Anyone have any insight on the following. My D is Out of state, ranked 3/234. 4.3 GPA. Act is 27 composite(27 math/27 reading) and SAT is 1240 (CR 550 & M 700). She does not qualify for auto-admit because her ACT composite is not 20 and her SAT reading is not 600. She has 6 Varsity Letters, tons of AP etc, volunteer etc. She is not applying to Business or Engineering. Anybody have similar stats of kids getting in or rejected? It seems like she would be on the top of the pile of review audits because she is so close but her being out of state worries me because I’ve heard that can be a problem. Thanks!

Dan…What is your class rank and was the 1520 for just CR&M…I’m guessing it is based on your GPA.

My SAT Math score was a 600 and a CR score of 460, I am taking the SAT again and I am going to pick that score up. and my rank was 136 of 988 students.

I would think with your CR score being that low, you would really need to get that up quite a bit in order to be a viable candidate. Good luck to you. Hopefully you did well on last weeks SATs!

Can you tell me what my chances are? I really hope I get in but I applied on nov 29
