What a boatload of horse manure! Aren’t you a bit confused with the carpetbaggers who migrated to the SEC or BiG Whatever to satisfy their ego and greed?

Without UT, there would not have been a Big12 and it would not have survived. UT paved the way to survive in the new world of football and did show that a conference can remain viable despite a large number of schools.

How hard is it to understand that UT can (and should) do what it wants? They ARE the driver of the Big12. Period.

Is that true, Rjfofnovi? Boy, that was fast. Talk about an premature demise!

Xiggi’s probably right in that it’s time to let UT off the hook, philosophically speaking. After all, look who abandoned ship…T-A&M and Missouri. The rest stuck around to try to find a solution to the expansion-defection situation? So far, I like what the Big 12 has done by sticking to 10 teams. And as I understand it, Texas agreed to some major concessions [revenue] regarding the Longhorn Network. I hope that the Big 12 doesn’t re-instate a league football championship game.

Did the context of my statement escape you? It is obviously about doing what it wants in connection with the offers and demands in college football. UT had and has most of the trump cards in its hands. Had it expressed the desire to bolt to another conference, the bidding would have been insane. Like it or not, UT is one of the most desirable teams in the NCAA.

Yet, contrary to what many thought. UT stayed put and probably cajoled the Sooners to also stick to a conference that appeared to be a dead duck. They stayed and ensured the survival of the conference while others did NOT a la Nebraska and the Aggies that NEVER did a damn thing for the Big 12, except whine and cry about the lack of recognition and being perennaly not higher than third of fourth fiddle in the conference.

So, yes, Texas, as the true leader and innovator it is, can do and SHOULD do what it wants. And part of that is that they also DO care about the other smaller teams such as Baylor.
