Hello, I’m a relatively good student, but I’m definitely not Ivy status or anything and it seems that anytime I look for any advice about colleges it ends up being about how to impress Harvard or Yale. So! I wanted to know if anyone could give me more specific advice.
Schools I’m applying to by order of interest (greatest to least):
Trinity University (applying ED)
Texas A&M - College Station
Southern Methodist University (EA)
St. Edward’s University (applying first response/their version of EA)
University of North Texas (already accepted)
My major of interest is accounting. And I have a meeting with my admissions counselor scheduled for this Sunday for Trinity, since I know they value displayed interest in the school.
My academics:
GPA: 4.06 (W), 3.7 (UW)
(for Trinity’s unweighted core GPA guidelines I believe I have a 3.6)
Class Rank: 166/803 (my school is relatively competitive although that’s what everyone says lol, it’s mostly frustrating that i’m right on the brink of top 20% which clears the way for some scholarships)
SAT score: 1330
ACT score: 31 (35 English, 34 Reading, 27 Science, 26 Math)
AP Classes:
World History (4)
US History (5)
English Language (5)
Pre-AP Classes:
Biology, Chemistry, World Geography, English 1&2, Spanish 3
Current AP Classes:
English Literature
Government
Economics
My ECs:
Editor of Literary Magazine (I’ve been a part of it for 3 years)
Founded a community garden on my high school campus
National Honor Society
National Technical Honor Society
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica
FFA
Book Club (technically i’m an officer, buuutt I don’t think that holds much weight)
Dance (at an organization I was a part of for 11 years)
I only have about 40 hours of community service
I’m currently pretty stressed about getting my essay polished in the next two weeks, so knowing where I am academically might soothe that some.
