My daughter auditioned in person on campus for Texas State BFA acting program. Does anyone know how/when they communicate their decision to you? If you are a for sure “no” - do they let you know that early on? Or do they communicate the decision to everyone all at the same time whether you are accepted or not?
Last year “priority hold” notice was sent to 38 BFA Acting applicants. Acceptance notification was around 3/15. The priority hold email does say that the acceptance period will be on a rolling basis through April, so it just draws from that pool until all slots are full.
Do you know if they notify those that aren’t accepted or on the waiting list early on? Or do they wait until all auditions are complete to send out rejection letters?
@mandie74 I believe no notifications are made at all until the audition period closes. My S auditioned at LA unifieds in February although we know a lot of kids flew out to do the on-campus audition as it was recommended. If I remember correct, the rejections came right after the priority hold email(within a day or so). I am not sure about the waitlisted kids though. They will bring in 14-16 students from the priority hold and then draw from the hold list until the spots are full and then to the waitlist if needed. Another thing to consider, some kids will not be making decisions on their program choice until late April, so priority hold and waitlist could stretch out for a while. Like a number of popular programs, the applicant pool is national and the talent is crazy, so a lot of the “PH” kids are getting into various top tier programs and there will likely be movement for a while with the list etc. My S did not release his spot until late very April. Wishing your D the best! It is an awesome program and incredible facility!!
Thank you. I appreciate you sharing information on this.
D got a Priority Hold email last year on 2/28. She got a call from Lauren Lane on 5/1 offering her a spot.
Wow! All the way to May. I’m not so good at this waiting thing! ?
@Mandie74 - @frontrowmama is spot on with her info. My son did not release his spot at Texas State Acting until the very end of April last year. He was actually planning on going there for Acting until he got a call from the waitlist at UNCSA. – All of this audition, waitlist, and acceptance stuff is like a giant puzzle. And, sometimes it just takes a while for all the pieces to fall into the the right place. (Someone declined UNCSA leaving a spot, my son declines Texas State leaving a spot, etc, etc.)
Thank you @frontrowmama These are the moments in life where you want tome to fly. ? My daughter only auditioned at TX State and I haven’t seen much in these forums about TX state so I’m not sure how it all works. I thought maybe they would send out rejection letters early on if they knew they weren’t interested in the applicant, but so far we’ve not heard anything from them.
Meant to say thanks to @STHmom
I didn’t apply to this program BUT I know some of my friends were put as priority hold at the beginning of this month!
