I am an international student from India and am planning to join Texas Tech next year to pursue a bachelors in Petroleum engineering.I am looking forward to the presidential scholarship as I have the 33 ACT ,however my high school dosent rank students,so the ranking aspect is totally upon the university.I was going through the apply texas essay section and there it said that essays are option (for texas tech) and it said"optional:no essay on file".Therefore should I write the essays at all?
I mean is it going to have any bearing on my scholarship decision??
Thank you
Write it.
are you from Texas Tech by any chance?
Yes I am.
Hey,thats awesome. Can you tell me a bit about the petroleum engineering programme? and the university in general.I have a 33 on the ACT and a high school gpa of 3.665.Therefore I am looking forward to the presidential scholarship that should waive the out of state tuition.I think with a bit of work ill be able to manage the rest.I would also be grateful if you could tell me about work opportunities both on and off campus.
Thanks
I’m a history major so I’m not sure what I can tell you about it. I have several friends & colleagues that are PE majors. All I know is it’s not too easy to get into, much like PE programs/depts anywhere else for that matter, & it is not easy. As for work, plenty of work available, but you have to look around. Library, SUB, etc. I work as a tutor for history, so if you are good at a certain math or something else you might want to inquire. Not sure that helps you, but since I’m not a PE major I don’t want to make stuff up just to tell you.
its alright.I really appreciate your help.If you find out anything from your friends, do let me know.
@fanatic01 Hope you got into TTU…! BTW my S did… and he got the Presidential too…
