I am a career changer. Texas Tech is one of the very few division one schools that offers a MBA in Healthcare Management. Moving to Texas is not exactly what I had in mind, but TT's healthcare program seems to be excellent. Secondly, the out-of-state tuition is reasonable and within my budget.

Living in Florida, you just don't meet a lot of TT grads. Getting first hand information can be quite a task. Is anyone familiar with TT's MBA healthcare program? Are recent grads getting job offers? Starting salaries?

Any insight would be appreciated.

What other schools are you considering? I personally can not recommend Tech's MBA program. I feel it is very weak. When I graduated from Tech undergrad in 2001, I was paid more than Tech MBA students average now. To me ,this is abysmal.

Perhaps the healthcare option would provide different opportunities but I'd recommend going to a more acclaimed graduate business school.

I would listen to Vector on this one. You would be much, much better off taking the MBA program at the University of Florida since it's a top 50 school and it's well-known in Florida of course. You can take the UF MBA classes on-line.

Considering that, in your words, Tech has one of the few MBAs in Healthcare Management, and there aren't a lot of Tech MBA graduates you can find with Healthcare Management, then I would assume that most of the MBA holders in healthcare management do NOT have a MBA with a specialization in healthcare management. More than likely they have a generalized MBA and experience in healthcare management.

In that case, just pick the best school that you can, like UF; don't worry about the healthcare management specialization.
