Texas Tech or U of H Engineering

I am going to transfer to one of these schools in fall, which has a better engineering program in your opinion. specifically mechanical or electrical engineering

[College of Engineering Rises in US News & World Report Rankings :: Texas Tech Today](http://today.ttu.edu/2010/04/college-of-engineering-rises-in-us-news-world-report-rankings/)

Texas Tech finally made it on the top 100 engineering graduate programs this year. UoH is not on this list. Electrical is 66th at TTU which has a great reputation…also I know tons of mechanical engineers and they have no problem finding job since Texas Tech is respected regionally (so if you plan on working in Texas or near Texas I would recommend it out of the two). I don’t know much about UoH program but it is near Houston so if you want to work in Houston its def an option.

Both ME and EE are well respected programs at Tech. You can’t go wrong there.

If you want to wind up in the energy industry, UH is probably a good place to go. But not better than Tech in most respects.

For some current trivia, Tech’s engineering school is named after Ed Whiteacre, a Tech engineering grad. He was formerly the CEO of AT&T, and he hired lots of Tech EE’s. Now, he is the CEO of GM, where Tech ME’s will start getting opportunities.
