I'm just really confused right now, I did my first two years of basics and now applied to both these schools. I want to do Economics if I go to UT Austin since their Mccombs business school is really competitive. Heard they were 25th in Econ. Back in 09 but not sure what it is now. Why is Econ part of Liberal Arts? I thought it was a science...?(UT Austin). If I go to Tech than I might do MIS but again, their business school isn't that great. What I ultimetly want is a school who help me find a good paying job. My GPA is a 3.6 currently (with 52 hours of credit.) So, how's UT's Econ. Department? I LOVE economics! But only the theoretical part of it. And MIS mixes my two favorite subject, Business and Technology. Which school is best for these two degrees...? PLEASE, NEED SOME ASSISTANCE!

I see you’ve tried both the Search & Selection and Business Major forums already, not sure you’re going to get much more help here as your questions are more about the schools and majors than specifically transferring. My only advice is that you might want to try posting on the Texas forum (under State colleges).

I can tell you that Econ is generally considered a social science, which is part of the very broad category of liberal arts. It’s never considered a science even though there can be lots of math & models involved; many students interested in business get an UG degree in econ if a business major isn’t offered.

Sorry, I don’t know much about business or either of these schools.

hey, i have no input or advice. so that renders my post useless to you. sorry.

however! did you make a decision? i’m most likely transferring to texas tech next fall from a community college in california. i wouldn’t mind talking to someone who’s going to also be a transfer student at the same school… ya know… that might be kinda cool…

but yeah! good luck!
