Texas

I know for a fact that they do dip below particularly at Baylor but also for the IP grads from UH…overall, technically you are correct…I live in Dallas and have close friends who are partners at most of those firms. In fact, the Oil and Gas Law Program at Tech is very highly thought of as are it’s grads, same goes for the IP program at UH. Note, I did say that many of the Tech grads end up in the Oil and Gas industry as in house counsel.

SMU Dedman grads tend to really look out for their own and you’ll find plenty of SMU grads in the top firms in Dallas as well…you can be top 25-30% at SMU and do pretty well in a Dallas firm, below that you’ll most likely end up in a smaller more boutique firm or in the private sector…need to be top 15% at Tech for anything but Oil and Gas.

Not everyone wants BIG law…

kudos to BDM. i congratulate you on your success in regards to getting into med school as well as law school.

eadad,

See thats what i was saying, like with SMU you are likely to get a decent job in Dallas. People on here dont take into consideration where these schools are located, and how these cities view them. BTW i know about Baylor too, i was just looking at UH and SMU because of their location.

Working for a Big Law firm is not my goal, i just want to get a well paying job. As long as i am making a decent/good amount of money, i dont care how big the firm is.
