Textbook buying

seeing as how my first semester book cost was over $500, i am going to get my books online for sec semester. anybody kno a site or two where u can look up wat books u r required to have for the specific course, also sites where u can get good deals to buy books from

use your university bookstore's site to find what books you need, and then buy them on amazon or half.com

i tried tht, but the link to the site has been disabled or sumthin, so tht dosent help me out at all, also i m sure there is a general website tht tells u which college requires which textbooks

Thats your prof's call. Wait till your school's website is back up.

i got the list of books i need from the website of bookstores on my campus, THanks for the help though

http://www.half.com/
http://www.bigwords.com/
http://www.alibris.com/
http://www.isbn.nu/
http://www.campusi.com/
http://www.cheapesttextbooks.com/

Amazon and half.com are great for buying textbooks.

I second that.

Yeah I bought books for one class so far and I spent like a fifth of what i would have spent at the bookstore. I am also planning on swapping books with kids who had my class last half and who have mine the upcoming semester.

Few people ever consider Walmart for textbooks. Depending on what you're looking for, it sometimes gives you a price as good as, or better than, the cheap vendors most people are familiar with.

I think it's easier to just buy books from people who have already had that class the previous semester. They sell it a lot cheaper than the bookstore (which is a total ripoff because they buy back used books for 5 dollars and jack up the price to sell it, the bookstore I mean).

For future reference, dogears.net is/was used by students at some schools to sell new or used textbooks. Their website will be down for who knows how long, but once it gets back up, you might want to check it out.
