I'm looking to get a textbook that would be useful for self-studying AP Chem (with other supplementary materials), as well as studying for USNCO. I've heard Zumdahl is good, but I've also read some bad reviews of it. Preferably I want be able to get it (or an older edition of it) for under 50-80 dollars, but I could go higher if necessary. What would you guys recommend?

i’m using zumdahl in my AP Chem class this year. for self study it’s great because in my opinion, it’s easy to read and explains everything really great. I recommend Zumdahl.

My AP class uses Chemistry: The Central Science, by Brown.
To study for USNCO, I’m using Atkins’ Chemical Principles.

I’ve heard Zumdhal is sufficient to make USNCO, but Atkins is preferable
There was also another book that I’ve heard mentioned around here. Try searching for threads titled something like “USNCO” via the search function

For AP Chem, my class also used Chemistry The Central Science (AP edition of course). My class basically followed the book and I did not study anything else. No prep book, no nothing, just the book. I got a 5 on the AP exam.

I know this is a little late but can reading only Chemistry The Central Science help you in USNCO?
