Textbook "Package" Contents?

I wanted to shop around for textbooks for the upcoming semester, so I looked up the required textbooks for my courses using the search tool on the Penn Bookstore page. However, 3 of my classes have "required packages" listed, and the individual contents of each package are not shown. The "UPENN MATH PKG F08" for my Calc class is especially vague. Is there any way I can find out what is supposed to come in each package so I buy the pieces separately, or is it not worth the time and money?

If it's 104 or 114 you get a textbook with Maple. Unless your professor is one who is in love with Maple, you will never use it. I don't think I took the CD out of the wrapper and don't know where it is. If you want I can sell you my math book (good for 103-114) for a nominal fee.

For a language class I would buy a new package from the book store because you will need all of the books and you will probably want a new workbook instead of one with writing all over it.

You will probably have to call the college bookshop or email the professor to get the list of the contents. Oftentimes, schools negotiate custom packages; so even if you could find out some of the contents, chances are you might not be able to purchase all of them.

Also, sometimes textbooks come with subscriptions to online sites that are necessary for coursework (my Spanish textbook was that way). If you purchase all the texts used, you will not have that subscription.

i am extremely interested in what the heck these textbook "package" contents are as well. i'm taking math 103 and would most certainly appreciate being able to buy a textbook from somewhere OTHER than the bookstore. Their prices are outrageous.

The Math book we're using is the new 6th edition. Therefore we can't buy it used. :(
