Textbook Question

So to save money I asked my prof what book we would need via e-mail he responded with:

Human Biology: Concepts and Current Issues Fourth Edition
Michael D. Johnson
2008
ISBN number 0-8053-9427-3

Now, this book either does not exist or is not available for purchase, because it does not come up when i type the isbn number into a search engine. I did find the Fourth Edition online, but it has a 2007 co. does that matter?

no, as long as the edition is the same. the difference in years might yield a different color cover, but that's about it

Have you ever thought about the possibility of a typo from the prof regarding the year?

Here's a link to a second edition <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2228&item=320139352769%5B/url%5D">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2228&item=320139352769</a></p>

Ask the professor if you specifically need a certain edition to do problem sets. If not your cheapest alternative would be to buy this book. It would be a little confusing but I've done this before and it worked out. If on the first day of class you find out the books are COMPLETELY then you've wasted 12 dollars. I think it's well worth the risk.

Email your professor and ask him if you are doing problems from the book. if that's the case then you have no choice but to buy the correct edition.

your Edition is out there, you just need to find it.

Can editions of books have dates that are in the future? I was under the impression that, unlike cars, the date of an edition of a book was always the year it was actually published in. It might be possible that the professor has an early copy of a book to be published next year and that he just grabbed the wrong book when he e-mailed you.
