Textbook(s) for AP Chemistry

What textbook(s) did you use for AP Chemistry, and what did you think of it/them?

I’m currently about to take Ap Chem this year but I used Zumdahl’s 7th edition to help prep myself. I thought it had really good practice problems. My school however uses Silberberg 4th edition. This book is very descriptive and very good as well. It assumes you have no knowledge of chemistry and builds you from scratch.

Which Zumdahl, @RoSoccer101? As far as I can tell, he wrote Introduction to Chemistry, Chemistry, and Chemical Principles, but I’m not sure what the differences are. I glanced at the Chemical Principles textbook while I was visiting Brown University, and it looked pretty good, but I’m not sure if it’s at the pre-AP, AP, or post-AP level.

Here. I’ll send you the link to both textbooks. What I’m planning to do is to use Zumdahl’s 7th edition for practice, while using Silberberg’s for concept mastery. Zumdahl’s is sorta hard to understand, but has excellent practice problems. Silberberg on the other hand is very easy to understand and has decent practice problems.
Zumdahl: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/0618221565/ref=mw_dp_cr

Silberberg: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/0072558202/ref=mw_dp_cr

If I had to choose one, I would honestly choose Silberberg. The textbook starts from scratch if you don’t know anything about chemistry. If you do, you just start from stoichiometry.

I took AP chemistry last year. We used Zumdahl 5th Edition and I would highly recommend it. Also as an added bonus for me, Rene McCormick has EXCELLENT video notes and problem packets over AP chemistry and she uses Zumdahl as her main book. I would advise checking her out as well, her lectures are great as a supplementary source.
