Textbooks - How to find out which ones

Surfmom - nbg and I found out that we have to get a code from our prof first and then we can order the card thru aplia.com, which comes along with an online book. I ordered my hard copy of the book from half.com for $4 bc I did’nt want to give aplia anymore money that I had to. So I would suggest that you contact your prof and ask for his course code and then you can call aplia (they have a really nice customer service) and they will hold your hand thru the process. I hope this helps!

wavewatchers: i’ll try that, thank you. Do you still remember the course code?

I emailed the prof that will be teaching my Micro class (Trost) and explained that I would like to get the card early, and so could I have the code early - and I haven’t heard anything from him. He might be on vacation or something and we still have a little bit of time so I’ll email him again in a week or so. I don’t know if the code is a course code or if the codes are for each individual. Since you will be using the card to do homework, it might be that the code is an individual thing. I still don’t know everything about this, its all new to me.

honestly, for every taking micro with trost like me, I 've heard that we hardly need the book, much less the aplia card.

Corindiana - so are you gg to hold off and see what happens when you go to class then? I’d love to be able to save $80 on that card if I could. Trost never did email me back, but I’m hearing that the course is so easy that people don’t even go to class - which made me think that I might need the book/card to do the work by myself.

i have micro with trost too…hear any more info?

Oh gosh, I wish I would have known you guys had Trost…seriously, you won’t need any of that stuff. The nickname for that class is “Coast with Trost.” His PowerPoint presentations summarize the textbook- I think I only opened the book the first couple weeks of classes before I figured out I didn’t have to do the reading…

good thing I rented to book for $14 at chegg.com then!

OK, gwsenior hasn’t given me bad advice yet so I’m not gg to buy the card. Trost still hasn’t emailed me.

I should qualify my statement by saying I took that class 3 years ago, so there is a possibility that it could have changed (I doubt it). But even if for some reason Trost or your TA cares about you doing something with that Aplia card, it definitely won’t be needed in the first few weeks of classes, so I think it’s smart either way to hold off on buying it.
