Textbooks in the library?

Are there latest edition textbooks available in Doe? Cause I have a textbook which is an earlier edition..and I really don't want to buy the latest one since the content is identical except for the problem sets in the book so I was thinking that if I could find the textbook in the library then I would just head there to do my homework.

New editions might be available for 1 hour or 1 day loan, but this depends on the class. Your best bet is to check availability online using Melvyl: [The Library-University of California, Berkeley](http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/)

If the textbook is used in a class, then the library usually has a copy of it on reserve that you can check out for 2 hours. I have not heard of this 1 day loan deal.

You can check out books on reserve for nearly a day if the 2 hour loan period expires after the closing time of the library. You get to check the book out for the night but you need to return it by 9am the next morning. I did this for an astro textbook last fall at the physics-astro library; it closes at 5pm and i checked the textbook out for the rest of the day at around 3.30 in the afternoon before returning it the next morning.
